Ever wondered who is behind the new SWISS Senses seat? Two of the answers sit twenty minutes apart in the canton of Bern, and we're visiting both!
We start in Melchnau at Lantal Textiles, a Swiss company founded in 1886 and active in aircraft interiors since 1954. Lantal designs and manufactures seat covers, curtains, leathers, and carpets for airlines around the world, including the fabrics you sit on aboard SWISS. After a welcome and company presentation, we'll tour the carpet production, where the wool is dyed, spun, and woven on site.
The afternoon then moves to Langenthal for a visit to Caynova, a 2020 spin-off from Lantal and the company behind the individually adjustable seat heating and cooling in SWISS Business and First. The system is certified to EASA/FAA standards and flies today on both SWISS Senses and Lufthansa Allegris. A guided tour and presentation will show how a small Swiss engineering team turned an idea to increase comfort of passengers into a certified cabin product.
The event concludes with an apéro in the Caynova showroom, offering the opportunity to exchange ideas with representatives of both companies in an informal setting.
