Fireside chat with Tobias Raeber: how he and Till Bossert acquired Herchenbach via a search fund and doubled revenue and EBITDA in 4 years.
Growing Herchenbach: How to Double Revenue and EBITDA in 4 Years After an Acquisition
In 2015, Tobias Raeber and Till Bossert (both ex-Oliver Wyman consultants) became one of the first duo-search teams in Europe. Their search fund Kronos led to the acquisition of Herchenbach Industrie-Zeltebau, a German manufacturer of temporary industrial and warehouse structures. Over the following years, they expanded the business into the UK, France and the Benelux, grew the team from around 20 to over 65 employees and doubled both revenue and EBITDA within four years. Today, the company employs around 150 people.
In this fireside chat, Tobias shares what it really takes to grow a company after the acquisition: from the first months as a new owner and building the team to entering new markets and working with investors. The ETA Club opens with guiding questions before the floor opens for an extensive Q&A with the audience.
About Tobias Raeber
Tobias is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of FORTI Search Fund Partners, an investor backing searchers across Europe. After starting his career at Oliver Wyman, he raised his search fund together with Till Bossert in 2013 and acquired Herchenbach in early 2015 after an 18-month search across Germany and Switzerland. As co-owner, he led sales, marketing and the international expansion in France and the UK. In 2019, after revenue and EBITDA had doubled, Tobias completed a partial exit and moved to the investor side of the search fund model.
